This is a great example of why Canada needs to increase its multilateral engagement with other members of the Arctic Council. By setting aside a 40 year dispute, Norway and Russia have gained a critical head start over Canada in the region. There's an inestimable wealth of natural resources under the Arctic ice, but the disputes in the Beaufort and Lincoln Seas, as well as in the Lomonosov are preventing our full exploitation.
This is one of the first stones cast in the Arctic race. UNCLOS is a great way to resolve our disputes cordially and the same can be said for the continental shelf. I hope Canada increases its rapidity of multilateral resolution.

@Northerner - your naivete would be endearing were it not so dangerous. To allow our boarders to be decided by multi- or bilateral engagement would be a derogation of sovereignty.
